Performance
This year, Chevrolet has decided to drop the 4.3-liter V6 engine. Now the base powertrain is the turbocharged 2.7-liter 310 horsepower four-cylinder engine. As for its three other powertrain options, the 5.3-liter V8, 6.2-liter V8, and the turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine - these powertrains have remained unchanged.
Most powertrains still offer the same hauling and towing capabilities. The only powertrain that did receive an upgrade is the 3.0-liter turbodiesel. With a 4,000-pound upgrade, this powertrain can now tow around 13,300 pounds.
Technology
The Silverado 1500 has added several technological advances to this year's model. Now, this pickup uses Google technology, allowing for simple button presses or voice commands. Drivers can also send texts, change audio sources, or alter climate control with just their voice. This pickup can also use Amazon Alexa.
Safety Features
Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all Silverado models. These advanced safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, a surround-view camera system, and Chevy's Advanced Trailering System.
